Hi, I’m Sonia, the founder of Carey On Travels. To answer a question I’m often asked — “Carey” is a family name, so this is a play on words rather than a typo.
From an early age, my family instilled in me a love for traveling off the beaten path, whether visiting relatives across Europe or exploring the quieter out islands of the Bahamas. Those experiences shaped how I travel today — slowing down, immersing myself in a place, and connecting with its culture.
At Carey On Travels, I believe the essence of travel lies in moving with curiosity, resilience, and a spirit of discovery.

A New Chapter: The Chronic Traveler
In recent years, my relationship with travel has evolved.
After developing chronic health conditions, I had to rethink how I explore the world. Travel didn’t stop — but it did change. I began approaching trips with more intention, focusing on pacing, flexibility, and energy management.
That experience led me to create The Chronic Traveler, a companion site dedicated to helping others navigate travel with chronic illness or limited energy.
While Carey On Travels focuses on where to go and what to experience, The Chronic Traveler shares how to make those trips possible.
Our Philosophy
Travel is more than moving from place to place. It’s about the experiences that shape us, the memories we carry, and the stories we gather along the way.
At Carey On Travels, we embrace the idea of carrying on — adapting plans, traveling more intentionally, and continuing to explore in a way that feels sustainable.
Because travel doesn’t have to look the same to still be meaningful.
