Wildflowers on the Lost Lake Trail

I really had no idea at all about Crested Butte. Definitely something to keep in mind when we plan a Colorado trip. We would definitely want to visit when the wildflowers were in riotous bloom. The colours just set off so many different views!
Visiting when the wildflowers are at their peak is an incredible experience!

Now I need to visit CO in the spring! Such beautiful pictures of the wildflowers!
Hope you can visit next year (July is peak season for the wildflowers in Crested Butte).
I’ve spent a lot of time in CO but have never been to the Crested Butte area (or the Maroon Bells, tragic!). It looks so gorgeous, especially during wildflower season! I would LOVE to do the Crested Butte to Aspen trail, even if it is challenging!
Definitely try to visit in mid-July for the height of wildflower season (and great conditions typically for hiking over to Aspen from Crested Butte).
I love how informative this post is! Definitely saving it for a future trip, some of these trails look amazing!
Thank you for the feedback. Hope you have a chance to visit Crested Butte!
Your photos are beautiful! This looks like an amazing place to visit to see wildflowers, I didn’t know Colorado could be so colourful.
Thank you for the feedback!
I didn’t realize there was a wildflower festival at the Crested Butte. Thanks for the information. I need to spend more time in Colorado, my trip to Denver next month will not be enough.
Colorado is a big state–well worth more than 1 visit.
I didn’t know there were 1,400 species of wildflowers in Colorado, but Crested Butte is an absolute wildflower paradise! I highly recommend the Lost Lake Trail. But next time I’m over that way, I’ll check out the Snodgrass Trail!
Thanks for the feedback. I liked the Snodgrass Trail as a late afternoon/sunset hike.
I always dream of attending these events celebrating the wildflowers or sunflowers or tulip bulbs each year. But even if I don’t get to attend, I can virtually experience it through your lovely photos and article. Thank you!
Thank you for the feedback!
What a beautiful area, especially if visiting during peak bloom season. I would absolutely look at some of the more challenging trails to get a little further away from the town and hopefully people and really enjoy a side that not everyone will see. The Maroon Pass route looks particularly beautiful, and I would be so thrilled if I managed to see moose on my travels
It’s not too hard to get away from people, going higher up in elevation or out towards Ohio Pass are great options.
I am considering visiting Crested Butte as it seems like a great destination, especially during the summer when the wildflowers are in bloom. I appreciate the detailed information and useful recommendations that have been provided.
Summer with its wildflowers, and fall with the beautiful foliage, are wonderful times to visit!
Wow, I never heard about this place, but it looks like a perfect spring destination in Colorado… could spend hours trekking, soaking in the views and capturing all the flowers! And this guide covers everything I needed to know befor visiting Crested Butte! Thanks
Thanks for the feedback! Mid-summer is the best time to see wildflowers. Spring is wonderful too, but that is typically for spring skiing.
Wow, what an informative and beautiful post! So many unique wildflowers. And the landscapes of Colorado in general look stunning. It’s definitely on my list, and good to know July is a great time to see the flowers, as I wouldn’t mind getting out of the Australian winter at this time of year!
We often see people visiting from Australia in our winter to enjoy the skiing, but this would make an amazing winter break for you in July as well!
Absolutely gorgeous! I’d love to visit Crested Butte to see the wildflowers. The scenery looks magical.
Thank you for the feedback!
‘Wildflower capital’ says it all about Crested Butte! I would love to do some scenic drives for sure. Gothic Road and Cottonwood pass sound interesting. Shorter trails with great views such as Wood walk trail look awesome. I must look up this beautiful place next time I am in Colorado.
The scenic drives are incredible, hope you can visit during wildflower season or during the fall foliage season.
It’s so funny this is the post I ended up reading this week from our Facebook group because I’m in Colorado right now visiting, and while I was on the plane, I saw a kid with a hoodie on that had some kind of “butte” joke so I had to Google Crested Butte and just learned about it! Not only that, the Airbnb I’m staying in has a book on the end table about the wildflowers in Crested Butte! Neat!
Very neat, hope you have a chance to visit Crested Butte and see the wildflowers!
The wildflowers in Crested Butte look amazing. Great advice on hikes and wildflower viewing sites. After reading this post, I am going to make this a stop on my next adventure to CO!
Great! Hope you enjoy your Colorado trip.
I love seeing mother nature’s displays of wildflowers every chance I can. 1400 varieties, that’s impressive.
Crested Butte has the most impressive wildflowers I’ve seen. Always looking for more spots to explore wildflowers though.
This looks absolutely incredible. The lower loop trail is such a bucket list experience. I have to send this to my husband, who loves to hike…. maybe it’ll inspire a trip, hint hint 🙂
The lower loop is such a gentle hike, with stunning wildflowers (easy to access from town too). In winter, this area is beautiful for cross country skiing and snowshoeing too.
